Mónika Izing, born in Southern California, graduated from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Arts. Currently she is attending her first year in the Master of Fine Arts Photography program at Parsons, The New School of Design in New York. Izing focuses her work on the human body in regards to life, death and health issues. Her techniques with color and texture evoke emotion in her photography and video work. Izing depicts images that balances the vulnerable state of the body with a sense of strength that feels both honest and alluring. Her awards include the Dean’s Merit Scholarship Award Parsons School of Design MFA Photography 2016 – 2018, Service Recognition Award Excellence in Peer Mentor Leadership Program 2012 – 2015, and the Deans List Recognition Award Academic Success at Otis College 2011 – 2015
